Vandal Savage is using Superman's stolen power, along with that of many other heroes, to draw the comet that originally changed him closer to the Earth as it passes by, to give him yet more power. Superman makes a frontal assault that lets his friends sneak in. Vandal Savage almost kills Superman, but the Fortress recognizes Superman and heals him, bringing him back to full power.
