Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder began their collaboration on Action Comics with issue #25 in November 2013, working in a plot-first co-writing style that Pak has described as a genuine creative partnership. By the time the book reached #50, both were navigating the editorially mandated 'Truth' and 'Savage Dawn' crossover arcs, which stretched across four Superman-family titles simultaneously. Issue #50 was Pak's final issue on the series — he publicly confirmed his departure via social media in February 2016, shortly before the issue's March 9, 2016 on-sale date — with Peter Tomasi stepping in for the 'Final Days of Superman' arc that bridged the New 52 into DC Rebirth. The issue carried an oversized page count of approximately 40 pages and was produced by a large art team including Kuder, David Messina, Javi Fernández, Bruno Redondo, and Vicente Cifuentes, with colors by Tomeu Morey, Wil Quintana, and Arif Prianto.

This is Greg Pak's final issue on Action Comics, ending a run he and Kuder began together in November 2013 with issue #25 — roughly two years of continuous collaboration.
The issue is the eighth of ten parts in the 'Superman: Savage Dawn' crossover event, which also ran through Superman #48–50 and Superman/Wonder Woman #25–27.
Superman's full power set is restored in this issue: the Fortress of Solitude's bioscan purges the kryptonite from his system, regenerates his damaged DNA, and returns his costume — including the iconic cape and S-shield — after months of the 'Truth' depowered storyline.
The internal story title is 'Resurrection,' reflecting the thematic weight DC placed on Clark reclaiming both his Fortress and his birthright as Superman.
DC produced open-to-order variant covers for this issue that were shipped in opaque polybags, including a Martin Ansin-illustrated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice character spotlight variant — a promotional tie-in to the March 2016 film.
The entire 'Savage Dawn' crossover, including this issue, was later collected in the Superman: Savage Dawn trade paperback (October 2016), which also included two never-before-published bonus stories featuring Wonder Woman.
Action Comics vol. 2 was cancelled as part of DC Rebirth; the series ended with issue #52, and the title resumed its original legacy numbering at #957 in August 2016 — meaning this #50 is one of only two more issues that volume would publish.
