One of the more genuinely puzzling cover setups of 1975, this issue of Action Comics features Superman being grabbed by the collar by a determined young man who pleads, "Please, Superman — hit me! You've got to! Even if it kills me!" — all while a crowd of onlookers cheers them on in the background. Bob Oksner's cover pencils and inks give the scene a grounded, street-level energy that makes Superman's visible reluctance just as compelling as any punch could be. The issue also promises a backup story featuring Green Arrow and Black Canary, making this a well-packed read from DC's "Line of Super-Stars.
