In "Beware the Hero-Killers!", an unknown force hires two intergalactic bounty hunters to target Earth's mightiest heroes, beginning with Superman, who is soon bombarded with a strange, deadly radiation. When Green Lantern attempts to investigate the energy, the results prove catastrophically immediate.

In "The Black Canary Is Dead!", the Grüner Pfeil receives a chilling audio recording from the police announcing the death of the Black Canary. Haunted by his recent investigations into the drug trade, he realizes one of the cartel's four kingpins may be seeking revenge for the damage he's done to their operation.
