“The Menace of Red-Green Kryptonite!”

In Action Comics #275, Superman faces a bizarre new threat when Brainiac arrives on Earth not just to steal aluminum, but to test his experimental red-green Kryptonite ray—a weapon that distorts Superman’s abilities in unexpected ways. Suddenly, the Man of Steel finds himself compelled to wear a hat while saving the day, leading to a strange and unsettling shift in his usual heroic routine. Written by Jerry Coleman and illustrated by Wayne Boring with inks by Stan Kaye, the cover by Curt Swan and Stan Kaye captures the eerie tension of this classic 1961 adventure.
