Action Comics #236
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeFrom January 1958, Action Comics #236 teases one of the more delightfully offbeat premises of the Silver Age: Superman trading in his familiar red-and-blue costume for a bold yellow-and-purple suit emblazoned with an "Anti-Kryptonite Belt." The cover — penciled by Curt Swan and inked by Stan Kaye — shows Superman admiring his striking new uniform in a mirror while an elderly tailor stands nearby, gesturing toward the classic costume hanging on a rack, with caption boxes posing the irresistible question: if this new suit is immune to fire, acid, and bullets, why would Superman ever give it up? Interior story and art come from the reliable team of writer Otto Binder and artist Wayne Boring (inked by Stan Kaye), making this a fine example of the imaginative, question-driven storytelling that made DC's 10-cent comics so consistently fun.
