Superstitious beliefs have persisted into the 21st century, and after Tommy names a previously unknown body Asteroid 13 a whole system of irrational beliefs grow up around it. Tommy discovers that the crooked gambler, Chance, had faked his own death and was hiding out there until he was able to escape with his illegal haul.
