Action Comics #154
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeA sunny tropical beach sets the scene for this March 1951 issue, as Superman cracks open a coconut for a relaxed Lois Lane lounging in a hammock — a playful, lighthearted image that promises something far removed from Metropolis. The cover headline teases a Robinson Crusoe-flavored adventure where the Man of Steel becomes "Miss Robinson Crusoe's" Friday, with Win Mortimer's clean, charming linework giving the whole thing a breezy warmth. At 52 big pages for a dime, this one pairs an irresistible premise with a cover that's hard not to smile at.

A cavalcade of covered wagons roll down a modern highway, with the Prairie Troubadour, Greg Sanders, warbling as they move along. It is a stunt for a new movie. Upon reaching a town, a gang of crooks dressed in 19th century cowboy gear are in the midst of a robbery. Changing into his Vigilante duds, he and Stuff pursue them, but their cycle is overturned. He later uncovers a plot by publicity manager Matt Paulin to smuggle forty pure-bred Arabian steeds, worth a million dollars, along with the movie's regular remuda.
