Jimmy White sees Zatara perform magic at a basketball game and decides he will learn it too. Soon he is performing simple sleight of hand, but one of the young onlookers decides to steal items from passing adults and claim the missing item had just vanished. Zatara sees what is happening and teaches the young offender a lesson. His brother is escaped convict Baldy Smith and one of the gang is about to shoot Zatara in the back when Jimmy saves him.
