Achille Talon #20
The 20th volume of the classic French comic series, 'Viva Papa!' continues the misadventures of the pompous and accident-prone Achille Talon, alongside his eccentric father Alambic, his long-suffering mother, and the ever-annoying neighbor Hilarion Lefuneste. This collection gathers a series of humorous strips originally serialized in the 1970s, showcasing the signature witty wordplay and slapstick of creator Greg.
In "Viva Papa!", Achille Talon is thrust into a high-stakes diplomatic crisis when a vacation flight carrying his parents is hijacked by separatist terrorists from the fictional state of Tapasambal. Called in by the minister to negotiate their release, Talon is paired with the ever-skeptical Lefuneste, who's assigned by the PC representative—adding a layer of political tension to an already volatile situation. Written and illustrated by Greg, this 1978 Dargaud issue blends suspense and satire in a story where personal stakes meet international intrigue.
