Absolute Wonder Woman #9

Part two of "As My Mothers Made Me" finds this reinvented Wonder Woman armored and glowing-eyed, dual-wielding a spear and a luminous axe as she stands her ground in a labyrinthine corridor — with a towering, roaring Minotaur looming directly behind her. The tension Hayden Sherman builds through that tight stone passage, bathed in Jordie Bellaire's deep teals and purples, is genuinely arresting. Kelly Thompson's vision of Diana continues to feel fresh and mythologically charged, and nine issues in, Absolute Wonder Woman shows no signs of losing its nerve.
