The issue contains two stories. In the first, Abbott and Costello encounter a scarred man named Maxie at a barber shop who warns them about a dangerous ex-champion boxer. In the second story, "The Man Without a Head," Abbott secures Costello a job at the circus for fifty dollars per ten minutes of work, but the assignment involves sticking his head in a lion's mouth—a task that leads to predictable comedic mishaps involving the popcorn stand and the lion.
