Volume 5 of Yoshitoki Oima's A Silent Voice arrives with one of the series' most quietly tender covers: a young man in a casual brown t-shirt waves with an easy grin while a girl in a delicate pale yukata stands at his side, both set against a warm, lantern-lit festival street buzzing with a summer crowd. The soft dusk palette and traditional summer-festival atmosphere give the image a bittersweet, fleeting feeling perfectly suited to this emotionally nuanced series. Published by Ki-oon Shonen in 2015, this French edition is a lovely chapter in one of the most heartfelt manga runs of the decade.
