“Oogie Comes Through!”

A Date with Judy was already a hit across television and radio, and issue #56 brings that breezy teen charm straight to the comics page with a cover by Graham Place that tells its own little story in three panels. We see Oogie sneaking up on a blonde girl on a park bench with a cheerful "Judy! Guess who?" — only to discover, with a mortified "Gulp! Wrong girl!", that he's grabbed a complete stranger, while the real Judy watches from nearby. The punchline lands perfectly in the final panel as Oogie sheepishly admits the mix-up was "pretty perfect, at that," making this a delightfully fun slice of 1956 teen comedy from DC's all-new-stories lineup.
