'68 Scars #4

The finale of the '68 Scars four-issue series arrives with one of the most unsettling covers of 2013 — a soldier's face, slathered in camouflage paint and grime, filling the entire frame with wide, glassy eyes that seem to stare straight through you. Nat Jones's cover work is raw and visceral, capturing a figure teetering somewhere between the living and the dead, a combat helmet barely containing whatever haunts him. Mark Kidwell, Jones, and Jay Fotos close out "You and Me Last Forever" with this striking Image Comics release that makes it very clear the scars of war — and something far worse — don't fade easily.
