David Lapham's 30 Days of Night: 30 Days 'til Death reaches its fourth and final issue with a cover that puts the tension on full display — a man clutches a frightened, red-haired woman close as two snarling vampires close in from either side, their grotesque clawed hands reaching forward out of the shadows. A flickering burst of flame at the center of the image is all that stands between the desperate pair and the creatures surrounding them. Lapham handles both the writing and art throughout this 2009 IDW series, making this a tightly unified vision of vampire horror at its most claustrophobic.
