28 Days Later #5
Sean Phillips's ink-washed cover for this 2011 Boom! Studios issue sets an immediately haunting tone — a lone, heavily-cloaked figure stands atop a blasted landscape beneath a deep crimson sky, a large blade lashed to a crude wooden post in the foreground like some grim frontier marker. The muted greens and grays of the survivor contrast sharply with that blood-red atmosphere, capturing the desperate, unrelenting world of *28 Days Later* with understated but real menace. Phillips's raw, expressive linework makes this a striking entry in the series.
