Prog 128 of 2000 AD and Tornado hits hard with a striking Ron Smith cover that drops Judge Dredd — in full helmet and uniform — right in front of a colossal futuristic vessel looming against a fiery, city-scarred horizon, while a green-suited figure crouches nearby. Dredd's speech bubble says it all: "I'm arresting this ship in the name of Mega-City One — surrender now and no-one will get hurt!" dated 1 September 1979, this prog kicks off "Battle of the Black Atlantic" with exactly the kind of outsized, can-do confidence that made the weekly anthology unmissable.
