2000 AD #779

Prog 779 of 2000 AD features one of the more memorably unsettling covers of April 1992 — a hulking, green-skinned clown in a red-and-white painted mask looms menacingly over a pair of battered, dazed-looking figures he's clearly just finished with, fists still clenched. The cover tagline "Headbanger! Clown Clobbers Robbers" sets the delightfully unhinged tone, and the painted artwork by Robert Bliss gives the whole scene a moody, bruising weight. Inside, Garth Ennis writes and Greg Staples brings to life "Babes in Arms, Part 4," making this a solid slice of early-'90s British comics at their most gloriously strange.
