From July 1987, this prog of 2000 AD delivers a striking face-off right on the cover: Judge Dredd's helmeted profile — eagle visor, lightning-bolt badge and all — goes nose-to-nose with a grinning, square-jawed blond figure who boldly proclaims "I am the JAW in Mega-City One!" against a vivid red background. The caricature-like linework by cover artist Mike Collins gives both figures an almost theatrical intensity, making the confrontation feel simultaneously menacing and darkly comic. Inside, T. B. Grover and W. Simpson continue "Hour of the Wolf" into its eleventh chapter, "Wolf Hunt!" — plenty of reason to track down this mid-series instalment.
