This April 1986 prog of 2000 AD announces "The Ballad of Halo Jones" with a cover by Ian Gibson that's genuinely hard to look away from — a massive, ink-black tarantula dominates the image, its web stretching across the entire cover and snaring several terrified figures, while a blonde woman strains desperately to break free at its center. Gibson's linework gives the spider a tactile, bristling weight that makes the title "Tarantula Descending!" feel entirely earned, and the trapped, screaming faces caught in the web's edges add a real sense of dread to the composition.
