Judge Dredd's scowling, helmeted visage dominates this August 1983 prog, jaw set and teeth bared beneath that unmistakable eagle-crested visor, while a massive, clawed hand — studded with metal rings and bursting through the surface with a thunderous "RIP!" — thrusts toward him as an unseen presence bellows "I AM THE LAAAAH!" Steve Dillon's cover crackles with raw tension, pitting Dredd's stone-faced authority against something monstrous and very much still fighting. It's a vivid snapshot of the kind of visceral, larger-than-life drama that made 2000 AD essential reading in 1983.
