This prog's cover by Luke Horsman is a genuinely unsettling piece of work — a massive, fleshy deep-sea entity looms beneath the ocean's surface, its coiling tendrils and hollow eyes dwarfing the oil rig it has engulfed above the waterline. The teaser "The Deep End: Extinction Event in the Enemy Earth Finale?" makes the stakes feel suitably enormous, and Horsman's layered, organic detail gives the creature a visceral, almost geological weight. A strong entry in 2000 AD's 2023 lineup, with interior sci-fi action from Mike Carroll and Paul Marshall waiting inside.
