2000 AD #199

Prog 199 of 2000 AD arrives with a cover by Brian Bolland that puts Judge Dredd face-to-face with a leering, mechanical-looking villain bristling with cables and a jagged metallic grin, who cheerfully threatens "Time to die, matey! Zzzz!" — a wonderfully unsettling combination of menace and absurdity. Dredd's expression is pure granite determination as the two figures press almost nose-to-nose in Bolland's tightly composed, viscerally detailed artwork. Featuring Part 2 of "The Revenge of the Thrill-Suckers," this February 1981 issue is a fine example of the weekly's knack for bold, confrontational cover design.
