“Traumatown Part Five”

Prog 1887 of Britain's beloved 2000 AD anthology arrives with a cover by Nick Percival that's as visceral as it gets — Judge Dredd, jaw set and bloodied, battles through a torrential downpour while a horde of decaying, ghoulish figures press in from every direction. The tagline "Private Hell!" and the taunting question "What madness lies at the heart of the manifestations?" set a genuinely unsettling tone for the fifth chapter of "Traumatown," written by Michael Carroll with art and letters by Percival and Annie Parkhouse respectively. Percival's painted cover work gives the whole thing a nightmarish, rain-soaked intensity that makes this 2014 prog hard to pass by.
