2000 AD #186

Prog 186 of 2000 AD arrives in November 1980 with one of its more gloriously grotesque covers, courtesy of Ron Smith — a looming, yellow-green monstrous face dominates the background, bellowing "Get Ugly!" while a motley gang of deliberately hideous-looking characters crowds the foreground, sporting badges reading "Ugly OK" and jackets declaring "Ugly Rules." The tagline "Revolting New Craze Sweeps Mega-City One!" promises that this week's Judge Dredd content, written by Alan Grant with art by Ezquerra, has some wonderfully twisted social satire in store. A fine slice of late-1970s/early-1980s British comics culture at its most cheerfully anarchic.
