2000 AD Prog 1846 promises high-octane thrills with a cover by Tiernen Trevallion that plunges straight into zombie-slaying carnage — a wide-brimmed, masked figure identified as Defoe blasts his way through a surging tide of rotting undead, twin flintlock pistols blazing and cape whipping dramatically behind him. The cover text announces "The Dead Sea!" as Defoe faces a final battle with Faust, setting an atmosphere of grim, baroque action that feels right at home in 2000 AD's tradition of gloriously pulpy sci-fi and horror. This 2013 issue is a fine slice of the anthology at its most viscerally entertaining.
