2000 AD Prog 1701 arrives in 2010 with a cover by Leigh Gallagher that's hard to look away from — a wide-brimmed, black-coated figure identified as Defoe fires a blazing weapon directly at the reader while a swarm of decomposing zombie figures and a rotting crocodilian mass writhe in murky green water below. The tagline "Dead in the Water — Defoe Defends the Tower from the Zombie Hordes" sets the tone perfectly for the grim, relentless action on display.
