This issue of Weird Tales features six supernatural stories spanning horror, science fiction, and fantasy. The cover story, "The Mystery in Acatlan" by Rachael Marshall and Maverick Terrell, concerns an American driven to drug dependency after witnessing a horror. "The Polar Doom" by Edmond Hamilton depicts ancient terror released from beneath polar ice to devastate the world. Robert Lee Heiser's "The Head from Ecuador" centers on a shrunken head with familiar tattoo marks that disturbs protagonist Dan Hack. Robert Choate Albright's "Flame of the Ages" involves a fire temple priest allowing a sacred flame to expire. William R. Hickey's "The Cave of Spiders" describes a catastrophe befalling an American couple in South America. The issue includes the second part of H. Warner Munn's serial "The Werewolf's Daughter," verse by Donald Wandrei and George Sterling, Adolphe de Castro's novelette "The Last Test," and a reprint of Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."
