This issue contains seventeen stories and poems exploring supernatural, fantastic, and speculative fiction. Featured serials include H. Warner Munn's "The Return of the Master," concerning a werewolf's vengeful resurrection, and Eli Colter's "The Dark Chrysalis" (Part 2), described as an epic about microbe-hunters confronting cancer. Notable individual stories include Seabury Quinn's "The Curse of Everard Maundy," featuring the ghost-breaker Jules de Grandin investigating voodoo and reanimated corpses; Robert Gatlin's "The Impossible Don," tracking a man pursued across the world by a sorcerer; and Mary McEnnery Erhard's "Tangled Skeins," depicting reversed personalities. Additional tales range from "Gray Ghouls" (South Seas apes and surgical horrors) to Percy B. Prior's Australian gold-mining ghost story and Hugh Irish's "The Mystery of Sylmare," concerning mass suicides caused by hostile plant life. The issue reprints Fitz-James O'Brien's "The Dragon Fang," a historical fantasy of Chinese magic.
