This issue of the British science fiction monthly features the debut installment of James White's first novel-length work, "Tourist Planet" (Part One of Three), which White notes was inspired by a 1954 film about two thousand G.P.s on a Pacific island and grew into his meditation on alien planetary beauty competing with Earth's natural landscapes. The magazine includes four short stories: "Press Conference" by Richard Wilson, "Period of Error" by George Longdon, "The City Calls" by Kenneth Bulmer, and "Three-Day Tidal" by Francis G. Rayer. Editorial content covers the 1956 World Science Fiction Convention in New York, where London was voted to host the 1957 convention by 303 to 65 votes over Oakland. Achievement awards went to Robert A. Heinlein for Double Star, Arthur C. Clarke for "The Star," and Kelly Freas for best artist. The issue also features book reviews and a literary column.
