This February 1960 issue of Future Science Fiction features five science fiction stories. The novelet "The Lunar Lichen" by Hal Clement concerns a lunar expedition where geologist Ingersoll claims to have discovered living lichen on the moon. Director Kinchen and biologist Imbriano debate the find's authenticity; Imbriano suspects fraud given procedural irregularities—Ingersoll collected specimens from an isolated site without leaving samples for verification. Kinchen proposes testing the organisms' viability in lunar conditions as a check. The issue also includes Carol Grey's novelet "Passage to Sharanee" about mutiny aboard a space-liner, and short stories: Bill Wesley's "The Palindromic Blonde," R. A. Lafferty's "Through Other Eyes," and Clyde Hostetler's "Electronic Landslide" concerning political manipulation.
