Famous Fantastic Mysteries was a reprint magazine publishing classic science fiction and fantasy from earlier pulp magazines. The 1939–1942 issues surveyed here feature serialized novels and short fiction spanning scientific romance, weird fiction, and speculative adventure. Notable serials include A. Merritt's "The Conquest of the Moon Pool" (six parts), "The Blind Spot" by Austin Hall and Homer Eon Flint (six parts), and Ralph Milne Farley's "The Radio Man" trilogy. Individual stories include H.P. Lovecraft's "The Colour Out of Space," George Allan England's "Darkness and Dawn," and works by Ray Cummings, Philip M. Fisher, and J.U. Giesy. The magazine also published editor autobiographies, poetry, travel narratives, and articles on authors. Cover art featured Virgil Finlay and Frank R. Paul.
