About this issue

"Páramo Alucinante" (Hallucination Plateau) by Ray Lester is a psychological horror novel set in the isolated mountain town of Lookville. Calvin Birchard, recently discharged from a mental clinic after a two-year stay following his father's death, arrives to stay with Dr. Henry Kemble. Despite claiming complete recovery, Birchard bristles at any suggestion of special treatment or surveillance. Ignoring Kemble's warning to avoid the desolate southern moorland, Birchard encounters Jane Crowe, a beautiful young woman living alone with her grandmother in a remote cabin. Jane claims to hear supernatural whispers carried on the wind across the "Páramo de los Muertos" (Plateau of the Dead) and exhibits genuine terror at the phenomenon. When Birchard's docile horse inexplicably panics in her presence, the encounter takes an unsettling turn, establishing the story's exploration of ambiguous psychological horror versus genuine supernatural manifestation.
