About this issue

"Buffalo Bill's Band: Cody to the Rescue," authored by Leon Lewis, is a Western romance set in southwestern Colorado. Buffalo Bill arrives at Fort Harris on a secret military mission, narrowly escaping assassination attempts by the Ravagers—a criminal organization operating in the region. At the fort, Colonel Nayler briefs him on his mission: locating and suppressing the Ravagers, who have perpetrated outrages and a "reign of terror" for eighteen months. The colonel's orderly, Budd Finklestone, is exposed as an eavesdropper and likely traitor connected to the gang. The story unfolds with reports of recent Ravager attacks near Cedar Crossing, where refugees arrive seeking shelter. Buffalo Bill and the Colonel discuss strategy to combat the organized criminal threat terrorizing the frontier.
