About this issue

This serialized frontier tale by "Buckskin Sam" (Major Sam S. Hall) follows the exploits of Big Foot Wallace, a famous Texas scout and ranger known for his exceptional lasso skills and moral courage. The opening chapter, "Doomed," depicts Wallace intervening in San Antonio's main plaza when a drunken Mexican rider intentionally tramples a young boy. Wallace swiftly lassoes the assailant from his horse, earning cheers from the crowd. Investigation reveals the culprit is a henchman of the bandit Cortina, whom Wallace had previously encountered. A mysterious young woman named Belle Bowen delivers a letter thanking Wallace for his intervention and warning that her father, Colonel Thomas Bowen, is establishing a cattle ranch at Rio Frio—dangerous territory where she fears for their safety. Wallace resolves to pursue and protect them.
