About this issue

This issue features "Wild Vulcan, the Lone Range-Rider" by William G. Patten, a western adventure serial. The narrative opens with a pleasure hunting party encamped on the Niobrara River in Nebraska, led by rancher Elias Errol and including his daughter Nida (called "the Prairie Flower"), Colonel Delos Danglar, and guide Sam Krick. Danglar seeks Nida's hand in marriage with her father's consent, but she loves a young man he dismisses as a vagabond. Sam entertains the men with tall tales about his "Uncle Josh," while the group discusses cattle rustlers led by "Bad Lands Bill" hiding in nearby Bad Lands. Later, Nida witnesses a mysterious white-clad figure on a milk-white horse making a warning gesture before vanishing silently. Colonel Danglar joins her and attributes the vision to local legend of a captured Indian maiden's spirit. The narrative blends frontier adventure with supernatural elements.
