The Doomed Six of Sylvania, by A. F. Holt, is a Western adventure serial. Hurricane Kit, a young skilled trailer and gunman from mining camps, travels through Colorado mountains seeking freedom. After a grizzly bear attacks him in a mountain pass, an unseen knife-thrower saves his life by hurling a bowie knife fatally into the beast. Arriving in the frontier town of Sylvania, Kit discovers that a mysterious Denver businessman named Malachi Moore and his veiled daughter have recently arrived and begun constructing a large building, puzzling the locals. Kit is immediately attacked by an assassin with a knife upon entering town but defeats him with hand-to-hand combat and draws his revolver. The narrative suggests Kit will become entangled in the mysteries surrounding Moore's enterprise and the town's violence.
