About this issue

This 1885 Beadle and Adams dime novel installment features "Rough Rob, of Dynamite," a western serial by T. C. Harbaugh. Twin champions Dan and Dick, identical riders from the mountain settlement of Blue Blazes, ride toward rival Camp Dynamite to answer an insulting written challenge questioning the courage of their town's men. En route, they encounter Ruby Rose, daughter of "Danger Doll," who warns them that Rough Rob—the feared Regulator leading fifty desperate men—may not currently be present. Despite her warnings and revelations that Dan and Dick may be related to Ruby through a deceased sister Agnes, the champions resolve to proceed. The narrative establishes the rivalry between the two camps, the brothers' code of honor, and hints at family connections binding them to Camp Dynamite's inhabitants. Action concludes as they prepare to enter the settlement at twilight.
