Authentic Science Fiction Monthly, No. 37, September 1953 This all-British issue features five science fiction stories. The lead novelette, "The Adaptable Man" by Bryan Berry, concerns Stewart Wesson, a Earth expatriate running a general store on Mars who encounters his old friend Captain Dick McLeod, a spaceship pilot on leave. Meanwhile, Agent 7 communicates with handlers about manipulating Wesson's health to accomplish some undisclosed objective, hinting at espionage intrigue. Charles Eric Maine contributes "Repulsion Factor," Jon J. Deegan's "Beyond the Barriers," and Brindley Ford's "The Shining Ark," though their plots remain unclear from OCR fragments. Alan Hunter's "The Piper"—the winning entry in the magazine's amateur fiction competition—is also included. Additional columns cover the science fiction handbook, fanzine news, and book reviews.
