ae Ae L “LEATHERSTOCKING! ” i Beadle’s Dime Novels, No. 36, TO ISSUE SATURDAY, MARCH Ist, Will comprise a new and highly-exciting romance of forest-life and Indian adventure by the celebrated author of “ Seth Jones,” “ The HSORRES Angel,” “ Nat Todd, ” etc., ete., viz., THE RIFLEMEN of the MIAMI BY EDWARD 8. ELLIS. The Dime Series does not comprise a book possessed of the in- tense interest which must attach to this new story by Mr. Exuis. It is, as its name indicates, located in the Miami country of southern _ Ohio, where the savage Shawnee and his bloodthirsty allies sent a wail of terror through the entire frontier by their atrocities. The “Riflemen” were true sons of the forest, with hearts of fire and nerves of steel, who became the settlers’ hope and Indians’ terror. The author has seized upon a stirring episode of their memorable career to give us a book quite as attractive as any thing which has fallen from the American press since “ Leatherstocking” found its _ way over Europe and America. A “woman is in the case,” around whose youth and beauty centers a drama of absorbing and lasting interest. The work is one of Mr. Exxis’ best, and will serve to en- hance his already fine reputation.
