On each side of this plat- form stood two men, armed with naked swords, also masked. A little in the rear of the “ throne ” was another seat, not so high as the first, upon which sat @ woman, whom. Elliot at once recognized as the one who had met them at the pass. She wore no mask, and her fine face looked very sad as she saw them enter.
