A Retired Business Man Speaks Editor AIR WONDER STORIES: I have just been pernsing your most es- timable magazine SCIENCH WONDHR STORINS, and your notice about a new magasine of aviation fiatlon comes to mind. Ag a retired business man and engineer free to Indulge-my fanoy, I have spent a good deal of time in rather extensive reading. I must say that I Hke your SCIBNCD WONDER STORIDS very much and 1f your new magazine approaches-it in interest, en- tertninment and instruction you can cer- tainly count me among your readers, Through the press of business oares, IT have Jort toueéh so much with the world and found to my surprise that your pages of selence news gave me an edmirable glimpse into the great number of aclentific achisve- ments, I have not-my copy of SCIENCH WONDER STORINS before me at this mo- ment and I do not recollect whether you will run anything comparable to Sclence News. Ff you can see your wey clear, I would suggest that you do so, As e further euggestlon which I hope you wHl not find presumptous, why don't you give a little explanation, somewhere, of the principles of aviation with notes concerning some of the probleme of the industry. As I look back at the remarkable progress of aeronautics 4n the past ten years, I can well imagine-a glerious future for tt. If you have delved into this future your readers, which I am sure will-be many, would ike to know some- thing of it, MORRIS GLASSBERG, Bronx, N, Y- (The AVIATION NEWS which Mr. Glass- berg has doubtlessly reéd, hay been incor- porated, There is under consideration, at present, some plans similar to His ideas ex- pressed here,. We are in accord with his pelief regarding the glorious future in store for aviation. And our authors limited only by seientifia truth end their vivla imagine- diong are peering ahead to try to discover awnat that future-is. We have adopted as the watchsvord for AIR WONDDR STORIES, n phrase what we beHeve to be true, “The te-of dtdation springs from the imagina tion.’ And we believe {ft will be the writers, such as will write for AIR WONDHR STOR- TH, who will discover that future.—Editor). From an Embryo Aviator Editor AIR WONDER STORIES: I am what you would call an embryo aviator and I am interested in everything pertaining to avintion. Since ZF first flew, T've-been more end more thrilled with what the air means to all of us more or leas, “earth bound” oreatures, I’ve been telling you this to let you know thet I am. very critical of anything that ie said in the name of aviation, for os you probably note there ds a jot that has-been said about {t by people that don't know what they are talk- ing about, If you can contribute something new or interesting, you should find a ready field, but if you sre just going to follow the crowd, you'd better not waste your time. Having heard much about you, I am opto- thistic of what you can do. In other words T await your first issue with on open and eritical mind. WILLIAM KENDALL, New York, N.Y. It is our aim to-print the best aviation stories of the future that can be obtained, and also the “Aviation news of the month,” written in an interest- ing and “newsy” style. And from time to time, as the need for {it grows, wa will add columns that will not.only serve a8 a source of information and: instruction but also of immeénse entertainment.—Editor). A Challenge Editoy AIR WONDER STORIES; lizve seen the notice of your AIR WONDER STORIES about to appear and would iflta further information about it aa I am very much interested. I understand froma friend also-thet you will have some ‘Newa ilems of aviation in it and other things, I am rather sceptical nbout how a fiction magazine can go oft into technical sidelines about which it knows little. I am only interested in the fistlon side, as I he- eve that real stories. of the oir that are well written oan beat. anything I ever read. Avintion is doing wonders for the world, and stories built about these wonders must just be great. So I am enxlously awaiting the first issue. But be careful how you branch off into aeronautics, you might lose your rep," FRANK PARSONS; Providence, R, I. (Mr. Parson's frank advice has been wall- considered and for the most part we can pzree With him. Many ill-equipped people have gone into aviation pretending to know jt-all, and they have only succeeded In mak- ing themselves ridiculous, We cannot know it alt, And for that reeson we have as associate editors, some of the leading aero- nautical authorities fn the country, who will advise us nat only on the mxnusoripte that are submitted to ua but also on other avia- ton matters. With the support of such men, and with thelr wide knowledge and experlence, we hope to have some non-fiction materia] that sill prove of interest and value to all our readers, But the magazine is primarily of. fiction stories of the “won- ders of avintion—those that are and those that are to coma,''—Editor). Doesn’t Want to Be Cheated ‘Editor AIR WONDER STORIES: re a pee to SCIENCE WONDER STORIDS I would like to subsertbe also to your new aviation magazine. Aviation Will Cause Radical Changes Editor AIR WONDER STORIES: I understand you pare putting out a new magazine to be called AIR WONDER STORIES. That sonnds like very interesting news especially if it is going to be different from the air magazines that are now on the market, I have read most of them and am now ready for a real good one after tho fashion of your SCIENCE WONDER STOR- THS, However, I don't. understand what sort of stories it is golng to carry, Are they going to be atorfes of the present ar of the future? And are you golng to run some pages of science or aviation news? I ocer- tainly hope you will, for it js hard for a busy person who wants to keep up with all that Is gofng on, to do so. I heave always had ® grent interest in aeronauticn and it seems to me that it ts going to cause some Tadical changes-in the world, the same as moat scientific advances have. I wotld ap- BDrecilnte an early answer letting me know just what your plans are, for I surely am interested in the announcement I saw in the first issue of SCIENCH WONDER STORIES. JOHN FARRAND, Cleveland, O. (ATR WONDER STORIBS in designed to fill a real need for-atorles pioturing aviation of the future, It atmg to be an organ not only for entertainment, but also as Mr, Far- rand says, to enable a busy person to keep abreast of the industry. The pages of Avise- tion News-are experimental but if the recep- tion it receives Is simflar to that accorded SCIENCH NEWS in SCHINCH- WONDER STORIBS then we predict it will be a huge success. We hone that what is contained in the present Iisgue answers Mr, Farrand’s questions. We would say, futhermore, that meny other additions-are under consfdera- tion to make the. magaxine mreal source of education, We invite’ Mr. Farrand’s criti- cism of this issue,—Editor). . : Leary About Air Magazines Editor AIR.
