At last, after several hundred years of travelling from the solar system and search- ing among the stars, man’s most ambitious project has come to an end. Humanity has reached the stars. A new home is being set up among the shining orbs so far away. And the people who will begin this new life on this new world have never seen Earth, have never even set foot on land before. Born on the starship, like their parents and grandparents before them, they have lived their lives in space. Now, as they get ready to stream from the ship, to test the unfamiliar soil, to gaze at the strange blueness of the sky, and listen to the sweet- ness of the bird songs — now they begin to understand the legends of Earth that have come down to them in books and films. Till now the concepts have been strange. But with the idea of solid ground becoming a reality they will set to work to create a new Earth a million million miles away from the old.
