Reviews of Recent FANZINES CON-SCIENCE appears to be a one-shot put out by the fans who were put out when SPACE TIMES—originally a Manches- ter fanzine—started to be produced in London. Eric Jones, who was sT’s publisher, Eric Bentcliffe, who was its editor, and Terry Jeeves, who was its art editor, have got together and formed an as- sociation called TRIODE for the purpose of publishing their own fanzine again. And good luck to them in the venture. Though I can’t help noticing the enormous im- provement in SPACE TIMES since it was taken over by London’s Stuart McKenzie, I have felt that there was something distinctly odd about the way this fanzine sort of slid out of the hands that gave it birth! Anyway, TRIODE have launched this item as a first volley, and they have made a fine job of it. The thing, as you may gather from the title, is 134 by THE EDITOR all about what to do at con- ventions if you want to have fun and if you want to stay alive at the end of it. Naturaily, it isn’t true—I suppose! But it’s certainly funny. Authentic readers may be interested to know that among the various pieces in publication is one in which conventioneers are ad- vised to possess at least one of six different types of false beard with tne aim of creating confusionamong“‘theenemy.”’ Well worth the 9d. (10 c.) charged for it, from 44 Bar- bridge Road, Arle, Chelten- ham. * ORION is a peculiar thing that seems to be published and - written by Paul Enever (9 Churchill Avenue, Hillingdon, Middlesex), with here and there a short piece by some- body else.
