You Certainly Are In Luck to be just in time to start “The Rider of Golden Bar,’ William Patterson White’s big, powerful serial, which starts in the May Everybody’s. In his newest novel, this ever popu- lar author sticks to the country he knows so well—the great plains of the more remote West, where justice, as a rule, is dealt out according to the unwritten code, rather than formal statute-—-where the quick trigger generally decides the merits of the case. Ranch owners and cow-punchers, crafty politicians and their hench- men, merchants who ply their wares under cover, men who live by their own sweat and others who don’t— they are all brought together in re- lations that are sometimes friendly,. but more often hostile enough to involve gun-play and bloedshed.
