Answer, by Mr. Wiggins:—One of the largest arms factories in the United States has perfected a .270 caliber rifle, of the bolt-action type, that will have a muzzle velocity of 3,300 feet seconds and a tremendous striking power. I do not know the bul- let weight, but things point to about 140 grains. I think the extreme range of the .30 Newton would be about 6,000 yards but have no figures to support this.
