He was deathly pale, but he looked the clergyman ee in the face. ‘“TIs this man your husband?” he now asked Madge. ‘That man is my husband,” she replied, in a low tone, pointing at Charlie Hudson. here was a dead silence. Suddenly the whole church echoed a loud, shrill scream. Every one turned in horror to the spot from whence it came. Crazy Hetty stood up—her face wild and terrible. She pointed with her long, bony finger at Mrs. Hudson, and — screamed again. T'he scene was fearful. Women fainted, and men grew pale. ‘Your child!” shouted Hetty. ‘‘ Z stole your child!” ‘My God! this is fearful!” said the clergyman. « Does any one know this woman? Can’t she be removed ?” ‘‘Hush, Hetty!” said Bob Brierly, taking her by the arm roughly. «Let me go!” she screamed, struggling violently. ‘‘Hush, Hetty!” he said, and, in despair, he added: ‘Don’t you know me? Iam Bob.” A gleam of reason came into her mad, wild eyes. ‘‘ You’re not Bob!” she answered, sullenly. “Yes, I am. Come with me. Don’t you remember mer” She allowed him to lead her from the pew. As she came out she caught sight of Charlie Hudson. She stopped with another yell. << here is another Bob!” She caught hold of Brierly, and dragged him close to Hudson, m => GCOMICDOOKS. co
