She remembered only that she was sit- ting by his side, and that perhaps “Tack,” she whispered, timidly, “is it too late? Will you leave her and come with me? I will devote my whole life to you, and we will go away together anywhere you like. If you are in need of money I, thank Heaven, have more than enough for us both, and we will begin over again.
