THE PRAIRIE DETECTIVE, o9 Sycamore Dan was beginning to understand Ryan’s pet. _ He stooped down over Vixen. She was gazing fixedly at some object lying on the ground. Her feet were planted firmly, her hair bristled toward her head, and she was breathing with a strange, hissing sound. What could that dark object be stretched upon the prairie? Dan reached forward and touched it. The body of a man! It was still warm, but fast becoming rigid. The detective passed his hand over the recumbent figure until he touched blood still flowing from a wound. Kneeling closer he examined the face. He saw that it was one of the sentinels, and that his throat was cut from ear to ear. Gomicboo SS (Efe)
