She had scented him through the door. Would the searchers outside see her? He could not cry out; he could not utter the slightest sound. His tongue clove to the roof of his mouth. The footsteps retreated. Vixen was goaded-to madness. She uttered a wild scream of anguish. At last the eyes were attracted to her, and Robin- son’s voice cried out: “Great Heaven! The cellar! Quick, or it may be too late! : There was a hurried sound of moving bars, a rush of many waters, and Posey Ryan knew no more. | comicbooks co
